| I can't help but agree with the statements made by Michael Wesch in this though provoking talk. Our educational system is doing all the wrong things in order to train the leaders of our future. I really am starting to identify with the voices that are crying our against the idea of educational reform. The idea that we need to get better at doing the same things that were done when we were in school is seeming more and more outdated. The environment that our students are growing up in is much different than what I believe has ever existed before and we need to start making |
serious efforts to prepare our students for the rapidly changing landscape they have been born into. This means that we need to stop trying to cram information into their head to make them more "knowledgable" and train them in the skills they need to become "knowledge-able." One of the most powerful thing that I saw in Michael Wesch's presentation was the collaborative choir. We now have a new suite of tools that are capable of creating amazing new forms of entertainment and understanding. I plan to follow the advice of these new leaders in education to challenge my students to create and do.
